A Passion for People and Hair

One of our favorite things is to welcome a new stylist into the ANTIDOTE family. We are particularly proud to introduce the amazing work of Maureen Stoflet, from beautiful Elkhorn, Wisconsin!

Maureen brings it all – professional training and experience with a passion for making a difference in her client’s lives. She gets the confidence that comes from beautiful hair and a healthy scalp, and the power of the professional stylist’s one on one touch. We recently connected with Maureen to learn more about why the industry is important to her, why natural products matter, and her favorite ANTIDOTE solution. When exploring how she got into the industry, we were struck by Maureen’s people first philosophy. “While I have always had a passion for hair, I have remained in this industry for 17 years because of the personal connections I build with my clients. After starting in a busy salon and taking time off to be with my first child, I transitioned my work to focus on serving residents in nursing homes and local correctional facilities. I now travel to seven different nursing homes and our local jail, where I find it incredibly rewarding to improve a client’s day through one-on-one care.”

We also connected with Maureen’s dedication to finding more natural products for healthy scalp and stronger hair. After all ANTIDOTE got started because of a gap in the professional hair care market. “Natural beauty is a priority for me because I strive to find the best solutions for each client’s specific needs, particularly for those with dry or itchy scalps. We strive for a minimal product line – nobody needs a shower full of products! Natural ingredients always lead to talking favorite plants. For Maureen, “On a personal note, when I am not working, I enjoy helping my mother with her farmers market, where she grows hundreds of varieties of tomatoes. The Japanese tomato is definitely my favorite!”

Thanks to Maureen, we learned that Japanese tomatoes are famous for their sweetness, low acidity, dense texture, and rich umami flavor. Unlike standard varieties bred for shelf life and easy transport, Japanese tomatoes are considered premium fruits that require a green thumb. Famous varieties to check out include Momotaro – aka the “king of Japanese slicing tomatoes”, Sungold – famous for its candy-like sweetness, a “sensation across US farmer’s markets”, and Trifele Black – with almost mahogany exterior and purple interior (pictured here).
