ANTIDOTE was born in Wisconsin in 2016, driven by a commitment to excellence and a passion for natural, effective solutions.

As a professional stylist, I didn’t plan to start a haircare company. I was using the best salon products money could buy and my clients’ hair was getting worse. Dry scalp. Irritation. Thinning. We blamed age. Genetics. Hormones. But that wasn’t the truth.

I just couldn’t accept that “good enough” was the best this industry could offer. When I started reading ingredient lists closely, I realized something uncomfortable: Most professional shampoos weren’t fixing the problem. They were creating it. Harsh cleansers strip the scalp. Silicones coat the damage. Hair grows back weaker over time. And clients end up buying more treatments to fix damage caused by the shampoo. 

It’s a cycle. So, I went back to something simpler. Plants our ancestors used for thousands of years. Things like Ginseng, Vitamin B5, Rice protein. Not trendy ingredients. Instead, time tested ones that support scalp circulation and stronger, healthier hair over time. When we used high concentrations of these plant ingredients…everything changed.

Within weeks, scalps calmed down, irritation decreased, shedding slowed. My clients’ hair had more body. More movement. Some even started noticing fuller-looking growth. My own kids’ dry scalps improved. Even my 40-year-old husband went from noticeable thinning… to seeing thicker hair. That’s when I knew this wasn’t just a formula. It was a reset.

But here’s what most people don’t see. When I brought these formulas to manufacturers, many told me the plant concentrations were too high, too expensive, too hard to work with. They wanted to dilute them. Simplify them. Make production easier. I refused. If we were going to rebuild hair from the root, we weren’t cutting corners. I had two choices. Accept “good enough”… or build something better.
